I use Suzuki's own 10w-40, and this is based upon what Suzuki USA has told me. Apparently it's designed for engine protection AND optimal clutch engagement, etc. I was using Honda 20W-50, as I thought the heavier oil would be better in hot weather, but after talking to Suzuki in LaBrea, CA, and after having a bit of clutch slippage, I have gone back to their 10W-40. I think other things, like riding habits, also affect how an engine wears, and I know that lots of folks swear by synthetics, but I guess I just ended up using what the manual and manufacturer told me to. Maybe I'm an idiot.
